"Between the amazing vocals of Deborah Crooks and the equally awesome musicianship of her bandmates, Kwame Copeland, Steve Waters and Chris Veenstra, Bay Station delivers its own unique style, incorporating the best parts of Americana, Alt-Country, and just plain good storytelling. These songs will grab you with their sound, but truly capture your attention as they sing about what it must be like to live in the desert, from both the viewpoints of visitors, residents, and native animals." — Bob Leggett LA Music Critic

about

***we're donating proceeds from this song to charities benefiting those displaced by the recent California fires***
We wrote "Fire Song" a few years ago during one of our desert writing sessions. It was based on a story we read about a fire in Marfa, but it could be about what too many Californians have been going through of late:

lyrics

Fire ran through the attic like a rat chased by a dog
Truck sirens blared a horn through the fog
Of our disbelief at what we saw “Run!” you said
Get up, get up, get up, get up out of bed

Two stories, ten units, fifty years, lifetimes of history
Gone up in smoke one night on a high desert street

The neighbor has her daughter I grabbed a guitar and the cat
You were wearing your pajamas and your favorite hat
Everyone got out to safety as glass broke and smoke poured
No one could utter a word or save any more

Two stories, ten units, fifty years, lifetimes of history
Gone up in smoke one night on a high desert street

Now we're staying on the other side of town you borrowed your brother's truck
I’m wearing my momma's dressing gown we're still counting on our luck
In the sunset and the waxing moon the call of the mourning dove
Trying to put it all behind us and save our love

Two stories, ten units, fifty years, lifetimes of history
Gone up in smoke one night on a high desert street
